Amazing Progress

In Apr

il splick•it reached a major milestone, our tenth “powered by splick•it” app, live for both iPhone and Android. It’s one of those moments that if we’re not careful we’ll forgot to take note of – mainly because we’ll have several more apps live very soon.  In addition to taking a minute to be proud of an outstanding team effort, it’s also worth looking at how we arrived at this milestone.

First, we have a great team of believers.  Our team knows what consumers want and can’t get enough feedback from the market.  Our team lives and breathes mobile.  At splick•it we eat our own dog food every day (we love to use splick•it)!  With the exception of a few conference room phones we don’t even use good old fashion telephones – we’re all about mobile.  I’m proud to say we’ve got the best team in the business.

The second ingredient was partnering with great brands that want to bring mobility to their customers.  New products don’t succeed without early adopters. Customers who see the future and want to lead the rest.  In our case, restaurateurs in touch with their consumers.  Restaurateurs that understand mobile will take speed and convenience to the next level.  Restaurateurs that understand mobile is a new way to connect with their customers.

And finally, it took a lot of hard work and little luck.  It’s strange that most of our team found splick•it and fell in love.  That love quickly became hard work.  Late nights upgrading software.  Early mornings testing mobile apps.  Iterating twice every 24 hours in some cases.  In addition to the common thread of passion for the business most of us found each other via our network.  We didn’t go out and recruit.  Gravity found us the right people at the right time.  I’m not convinced it was destiny, but it’s certainly good fortune.

We’re excited to see what the next 6 months brings.  More partners, more consumers, and big leaps in mobile innovation for both.  Thanks to ALL those that were a part of this great milestone!

The 150-unit franchise company is looking to revolutionize the way that its customers order their meals. The app is available for iPhone and Android devices.

Splick•it Develops 10 Branded Restaurant Apps, The Latest Launch For Lenny’s Sub Shop

cheapest viagrag” alt=”" width=”150″ height=”150″ />Boulder, CO, May 11, 2011Splick•it has launched its latest restaurant app, a mobile order and payment app, for Lenny’s Sub Shop, one of the fastest growing sub sandwich chains in the country. Mobile ordering will be available at all 150 Lenny’s restaurants using either an iPhone or Android phone. The restaurant apps let customers pre-order and pay for their meal, then simply walk in to Lenny’s, grab their food and go.

Upon opening, the app uses gps technology to provide a list of Lenny’s restaurants ordered by proximity to the user’s location. After a restaurant location has been selected, the app’s menu has been designed to ensure the customer can have the Authentic Philly Cheesesteaks & The Deli Fresh Experience™ they would have at any Lenny’s restaurant, serving up menu sandwiches with the option of customizing by adding or removing items, making meals and adding drinks and extras as desired. Customers can even save a favorite meal allowing them to order with a few quick taps on subsequent orders.

According to Brent Alvord, President of Lenny’s Sub Shop, “We’ve listened to our brand loyalists and we know this is something they have wanted for a long time. Our new mobile ordering system will allow time-crunched customers to quickly and easily pick up their food so they don’t have to choose between their day-to-day obligations and their desire for a freshly made meal.” Read More…

ColoradoDaily.com asks: Why are online menus so awful?

Mobile menus make munching manageable

by Ef Rodriguez.

Most restaurant websites suck. This is a fact of life among the segment of

the population that likes to peruse menus online. This segment, I should note, includes everyone on Earth. It’s the same old story: You hear about a new restaurant, Google it, click through to the website and are greeted with a lurching relic from the web’s Comic Sans-dependent past.

It’s usually an impossible-to-navigate Flash experience, something that hasn’t been updated in years or a PDF of the menu that someone scanned. The attention that surely goes into the restaurant’s delectable entrees and desserts is nowhere to be found on the site. It’s the design equivalent of a toddler eating spaghetti: precious but horrifying.

There are exceptions, of course. Some restaurant websites are elegant and intuitive, but they are usually well out of my price point. I’m the sort of rascal who leaves a bag of Funyuns out on the lawn for an afternoon and serves them to my friends as “sun-dried onion frites.”

Happily, technology has swooped in to rescue the ravenous masses by providing an alternative to the average restaurant website. Many local eateries have developed mobile applications that bypass the need to visit the dotcom version altogether. Furthermore, most allow the customer to order directly from the app and pick their food up at an appointed time. Read More…
